1) What does the Driver Education program include?
It includes 30 hours of classroom instruction and 6 hours of behind-the-wheel training (three 2-hour lessons).
2) Do you offer online classes?
Yes. Halifax County offers online and in-person options. Nash, Edgecombe, and Vance are online only.
3) How do I secure a seat in a class?
Choose a class date, complete registration, and submit payment. Your receipt confirms your student’s spot.
4) What age does my teen need to be to enroll?
Students must be at least 14½ years old and not older than 18.
5) Does my teen have to be enrolled in school to take Driver Education?
Yes. Students must be enrolled in public, private, charter, or a registered homeschool program.
6) When does behind-the-wheel start?
After your teen completes the classroom phase, you can schedule the behind-the-wheel lessons.
7) How long is behind-the-wheel training?
Behind-the-wheel training is 6 total hours, taught as three 2-hour sessions.
8) What do I need to do before class starts?
Complete and submit the Parent/Student Agreement before the first-class session.
